DOG SLED TOURS

A dog sled tour is a unique and wonderful way to experience the beautiful backcountry of the Telluride region.  This is a perfect activity for couples and families with children.

Tours are conducted in the morning and usually last about 4 hours door to door - transportation is provided from Telluride and the Mountain Village.  A professional guide or “musher” is assigned to drive each sled which holds two passengers.

One guest sits in the basket of the sled, and one guest stands on the back runners with the guide.  Voice commands are given to control the direction and speed of the dogs.

This is an active participation activity and guests are encouraged to help harness the dogs, ready the sled, and help steer as they head off down the trail.

Destinations take you to various National Forest trailheads and vary with snow conditions.  Telluride Snowmobile Adventures is a proud booking agent for Wintermoon Sled Dog Adventures.

How to Dress

Eye protection is required but not provided - you should bring your own ski goggles or sunglasses depending on the day’s weather.

Dress as you would for a day of skiing.  Gloves and footwear should be warm and adequate for snowy conditions.  Avoid long dangling clothing and scarves.  Sun screen and lip balm are a good idea on bright sunny days.
